Tell us about your venue
Ardington House is an 18th Century Stately Home that offers exclusive use for weddings and private hire stays.
Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?
We offer civil and civil partnerships on our picturesque Temple Island …..
and in the Imperial Hall within the house (up to 60 guests seated in the hall).
Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?
Yes they do
Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?
We can accommodate up to 200 guests seated within our lakeside marquee (marquee extension available for larger weddings), 200 guests can be accommodated on the island for ceremonies.
Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
Each wedding will vary depending on the couple’s requirements. Fees to consider with us is the venue hire and the overnight accommodation fee (and catering surcharge if outsourced catering is chosen).
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
We have a preferred catering team that have been working closely with us for over 10 years. They also provide staff and event management for the day. Clients are permitted to outsource catering but will be subject to a fixed surcharge (up to 120 guests) and that is inclusive of corkage (during dining).
We operate a cash bar within in the marquee after the meal is complete. Any outsourced catering will have to provide tableware, staff and event management.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Couples are allowed to choose any supplier they wish as long as DJ’s etc. use our in house PA system. It doesn’t have a limiter but directs the sound in a way so’s not to upset our neighbours. We do have a suppliers list if they get stuck and are not from the locality.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
We do, the house can accommodate 18 guests over 9 bedrooms, and an excellent continental breakfast is included.
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
We have two office based colleagues who deal with all the run up coordination and liaison that are here Monday – Friday. Our catering team provide the staff/event management etc. on the event day and our live in house couple, will look after guests at the house – they will assist with check in, concierge, offering butler service and breakfast to overnight guests.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc. have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
This is dependent on how our diary plays out. Most bookings will be allowed access the day prior with a 2 hour slot to dress the marquee. Florists usually arrive the event day morning and access is very flexible. House access is usual at either 9am/10am. House check in for guests is 10 am but again we can offer earlier depending on what we have booked.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
Absolutely! Our grounds are stunning, boasting a lake, Temple Island Folly (accessed via a bridge), Chestnut Avenue, north and south lawns and more. We also can offer an outside heated pool with pool house as well as a tennis court.
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
There is so much choice with regards venue so I would suggest deciding what you absolutely do and don’t want and what you’re willing to compromise on. For many budget is a huge factor so it’s really about finding out what your priorities are. Some couples have to have amazing floristry displays, for others the cuisine is the most important and for the privileged few whereby money is no object all of these things have to be beyond amazing.
Your venue will dictate your style and general theme, we are an exclusive hire stately home venue so many of our clients want elegant grandeur but with a home from home feel. A barn venue, which is just as beautiful will offer you a more rustic country style vibe. In short, find your venue, everything else will follow.
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
I find working in an industry that is generally imbued with excitement and positivity to always be why I continue to do so. Each wedding here is so unique and tailored to each couple therefore my favourite part is always receiving the great feedback, safe in the knowledge that we have planned and executed the most important day of these people’s lives and hopefully done it well!
