Working with a talented team of local wedding professionals, Sam said, “We all believe in helping couples to get married intimately without losing the luxury details – for instance, we don’t serve ‘bubbles’ after the ceremony, we only serve premium Champagne, and with the twilight package, couples can enjoy their wedding breakfast outside under the stars”.
E-Lope was created following the outbreak of Covid19 to initially help couples fed up with all the uncertainly around weddings. It also enables couples who simply want the most intimate, romantic and yet incredibly stylish wedding, full of wow, to get married now!
What do you think makes an elopement or micro wedding so special?
Elopements are inherently special as they focus on the couple. They are simpler to organise, less stressful than a large wedding, are intimate and more spontaneous, often organised last minute, and are now seen by some as more romantic and fun than traditional weddings.

Elopements take place at the gorgeous, romantic, and picturesque The Castle Westenhanger. The royal Castle was frequently visited by Henry VIII who much like us today, enjoyed the setting for the hospitality and entertainment it offered.
The Mansion is a Grade 1 listed manor house set in 14 acres of beautiful grounds and is surrounded by the C14th Castle walls, ensuring elopements are private, exclusive, and secluded. Inside this beautifully restored country house, there are two reception rooms. The larger of the two function rooms are set for indoor Wedding Breakfasts. The other room will be used to meet the registrars.
On the first floor, at the top of the mansion stairs, is possibly one of the largest bridal suites in Kent that includes a large bathroom and a landing. Fleur loves the light up here. On arrival, one or both partners are welcome to add the final touches to their outfits.
Indoor ceremonies take place within the Mansion in the Queen Elizabeth the 1st Ceremony Room. A unique aspect of this ceremony area is the stunning Dovecote, where couples can sign the register.
The beautifully designed and hand-built Thatched Gazebo makes the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. Then post-ceremony, couples can wander the grounds for those perfect romantic images and dine outside in the courtyard, sunken garden, under the gazebo or in the Mansion.
Are couples able to legally marry as part of their E-Lope package, or is it simply a wedding blessing and celebration?
Yes, couples are legally able to marry as part of their elopement. Team E-Lope just need 30 days’ notice. The E-Lopement team organises the wedding’s legal aspect, reserving the date and time with Kent County Council, leaving the couple to pay the fees and fill out the necessary paperwork.
Couples can bring witnesses, family and friends up to a maximum of 10 people, including the couple. But often, the elopement team are delighted to be asked to witness the couple getting married.
If couples consider an elopement or micro wedding but are unsure if it’s right for them, what would your advice be?
If couples are considering an elopement – perhaps they have fallen out of love with the whole big wedding idea, want to scale back on their guest’s list, or just want to save money, my advice would be to choose a team of experts that can deliver a ‘minimony’ that is imaginative, immersive and personal.
I would choose a unique, historic backdrop and then go heavy on the decor, with a curated, menu to create such a beautiful wedding, they are in fact going to want to share with everyone – just on social media!
Destination elopements are changing, and if you haven’t thought of doing it before, perhaps now is your chance to book a charming, modern, and romantic wedding in Kent at a Castle for just you two.
