Tell us about your venue
The Carriage Rooms at Montalto is one of Northern Ireland’s premium wedding venues. Created around a 19th century mill it’s magnificent, private and luxurious surroundings give the promise of exclusivity coupled with the highest standards of service to give couples the wedding day of their dreams.
The Carriage Rooms sits on the grounds of the beautiful Montalto Estate.
Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?
Yes we are fully licensed for religious and civil ceremonies as well as civil partnerships. Weather dependent, your ceremony can take place outdoors in the beautiful surroundings of our Walled Garden.
Alternatively, the indoor option provides an enchanting space with exposed stone walls and illuminated archways giving a cosy, romantic atmosphere.
Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?
Yes. The Carriage Rooms at Montalto only host one event per day and so you can your guests can explore the venue and the immediate grounds undisturbed.
Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?
The Carriage Rooms at Montalto has a maximum capacity of 180 guests for all aspects of your day. Our second venue, Montalto House offers a more intimate setting with space for up to 60 people. This perfectly suits destination weddings.
Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
As every wedding is completely unique, at The Carriage Rooms we don’t offer wedding packages. Instead couples hire the venue for the entire day and have the freedom to organise the day of their dreams without restrictions on format.
There are no hidden costs when you book a wedding at The Carriage Rooms.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
Food is such an important part of a wedding celebration. Because of this we have an exclusive arrangement with Yellow Door to supply the catering at the venue. Yellow Door are the premier caterer in Northern Ireland with a passion for local, fresh produce cooked fresh on site to your exact requirements.
You’ll work together with their wedding co-ordinators to create a bespoke menu for you and your guests.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
We have worked closely with JN Wines to create a wine list that caters to all palettes and that starts at just £10 per bottle. Having said that, we recognise that sometimes couples have a favourite wine or a family connection that will mean they want to bring their own wines in and so they are more than welcome to do this and pay the corkage fee.
However this is by all means not an all or nothing service and couples are welcome to mix and match to suit their needs.
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Yes couples are completely free to choose their own entertainment as we have no ties to any supplier. We do have a list of recommended suppliers that we are happy to share with couples to give them some guidance on where to start their searches.
These are simply suppliers that have worked in the venue previously, have been professional and done a good job in our opinion.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
We do indeed and it makes a wonderful addition to the wedding experience at Montalto Estate. The onsite accommodation is housed in the original 18th century Georgian Manor on the estate. Montalto House can accommodate 18 adults across 9 double bedrooms, all of them en-suite and two of which can be twin rooms if required.
With staff on hand throughout your stay, guests can curl up in front of the fire in the library with a drink in hand post wedding and talk through the day before retiring to their room.
A homemade Ulster fry is served the following morning in the family kitchen with check out at 12pm.
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
From your initial enquiry through to your goodbyes at the door at the end of the night our venue manager and hospitality coordinator are on hand to assist you in any way they can.
From questions during the planning process to managing the day itself to ensure it goes smoothly, nothing it too much trouble for them. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
Access to the venue and the times are very much dependent on the schedule and something which can’t be guaranteed until much closer to the wedding date. In an ideal world couples would have access to the venue for a period of time the day before the wedding to set up their decor.
However sometimes this isn’t possible due to other events taking place but rest assured The Carriage Rooms team are very experienced and will follow all your set up instructions to a tee to ensure the venue looks just as you imagined it would on your big day.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
At The Carriage Rooms there is no shortage of photo opportunities, in fact it can sometimes be difficult to narrow down the choices – the tree lined 2km driveway, the barley fields, the Walled Garden, the stone Courtyard to name but a few!
And should the weather not be on our side there are no shortage of sheltered spaces such as the Glass House or other nooks and crannies around the venue itself so rest assured you won’t miss out on any of those magical shots.
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
Pay attention to hidden costs and don’t be afraid to ask questions as the more information you have from the beginning the better. Things might seem inexpensive on the surface but what might the potential extra costs be? Is VAT included in the price? What about table and chair options? Are there ceremony fees or any other fees for that matter? These can all add up very quickly and make what seemed like an affordable option to begin with much less so.
What you might be saving on catering at one venue could need to be spent on room dressing at another venue so weigh up the financials carefully – your dream venue might not be as out of reach as you thought after all.
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
We’ve had our fair share of memorable moments at The Carriage Rooms from groom’s trousers splitting; lost wedding rings and uncooperative horses all of which would complete with each other for funniest/most panic inducing moment at a wedding.
However our favourite moments though have to be those ones that we feel privileged to be a part of… witnessing a groom’s first look at his bride, a father’s kiss on the cheek of his daughter, fixing of the brides dress and veil before we send her down the aisle, seeing the joy of two families celebrating to name but a few.
For us it is an honour to be invited to play a part in a couple’s special day and we’re looking forward to all the moments to come in the future.
