Penton Park is a truly delightful privately owned exclusive use venue. The vibe at Penton Park is relaxed and friendly with the emphasis on creating the most magical, unforgettable day for you.
We love the quote on their website that “this house loves a party just as much as we do.” What a lovely attitude to have to put you at ease as you’re planning your wedding.
Of course, like most things that look easy, relaxed and effortless, there’s so much work that goes on behind the scenes at Penton Park to ensure that your day runs seamlessly.
Set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, not only do you have the house to enjoy with it’s huge floor to ceiling windows in the reception rooms, but you are also free to enjoy the gorgeous gardens. Just perfect for the warmer months, fabulous for photos and absolutely ideal for younger members of your wedding party to enjoy and run off some energy.
With so much to delight and discover we’ll hand you straight over to the team at Penton Park to tell you much more about their enchanting venue.
Tell us about your venue
Our venue is our home! Three generations of our family live here, but don’t worry we don’t join your wedding day, although you might find us pouring drinks, helping guests order cabs or dealing with any thing that needs an extra pair of hands. Our home is in North West Hampshire set in beautiful Hampshire countryside, with south facing views and huge floor to ceiling windows we have lots of natural sunlight which floods the rooms in summer or in winter.
We try to offer as much flexibility as possible so that couples can have their wedding exactly the way they want.
We are a very exclusive venue and only host 20 weddings a year, and only ever on Saturdays. If you book us for your wedding you will be the only couple that weekend, from setting up Friday through to picking up your belongings on the Sunday.
Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?
Yes absolutely, we are licensed for up 91 in our largest room, or can accommodate smaller ceremonies in the Sitting Room and Drawing Room.
Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?
Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?
Capacity for the day ceremony is 91 but this must include 2 x registrars and any suppliers – we suggest working to 85 including yourselves is the best number.
Sit down capacity in house is 85, although this can be increased to 180 if you have a marquee attached to the Ballroom and use this for dining.
In the evening our maximum capacity is 180 with or without the marquee.
Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
We don’t offer set packages, but create them for each couple. We can add in elements like a bridal preparation room, drinks packages and recommend caterers – but we like to create a package based around each couples needs and plans for their own day.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
We do have preferred suppliers for catering, we have a selection, with a varying price point and different styles and vibes. If couples wish to bring their own they can subject to a waiver fee.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
Own alcohol is allowed – yes we do charge corkage. However, most of our couples see our drinks prices and decide they are pretty competitive so leave us to run the bar in the evening. We have an extensive selection of spirits and can source anything you’d like to make the bar more personal.
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Yes absolutely. We do have a Sonus system in the house which you can use for background music throughout the day.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
No accommodation on site, but we do have a glamping site which we offer complimentary shuttles to and from. We also offer complimentary transport for up to 100 guests to a hotel with a 20 mile radius!
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
Yes indeed, Michelle has 13 years experience and is on hand to help as much or as little as couples need. She is also present on the day to ensure the smooth running and liaise with our couples planners, or their suppliers as needed.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
The house is yours from 9am-2pm on the Friday before your wedding.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
Yes we have gorgeous south facing lawns with a mowed path down to a gazebo covered in wisteria. There are also wonderful woodland spaces and some majestic trees which create a stunning backdrop
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
Really focus on what you want and what you don’t want, think over other weddings or events you may have been to and see if there has been anything you’ve thought was wonderful, or perhaps not so wonderful! Also make sure you stay true to yourselves, the more relaxed and happy you are on your day, the more relaxed all of your guest will be!
The venue should be a place you feel, happy, relaxed and at ease so that on the day itself you are just focused on being present and enjoying yourself – not worry about anything behind the scenes!
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
I think favourite moments probably mainly centre around people totally relaxing in our home and really treating it as their own, from finding guests relaxing in the Sitting Room, to them scooping up one of our two cats to have a picture in the photobooth, one amazing moment was a full choir taking up residence in the Drawing Room and signing to all of the guests…. When we see all of our couples friends and family laughing, smiling and enjoying every second that makes us feel proud and privileged to have played a part in hosting that day.
