Nestled in acres of wooded parkland and completely hidden from view, the first glimpse of this stunning castle is simply breathtaking.
Dating back to 14th Century, this magnificent crenellated mansion with beautiful grounds remains to this day a much loved family home owned and run by 25-year-old Cosmo Linzee Gordon and offers you and your guests a wonderfully secluded and romantic setting to celebrate your ‘special day’ exclusively and in complete privacy.
Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?
Our beautiful and unique Chapel is a wonderfully romantic and a truly magical setting in which to exchange your vows whether it be a religious, humanist, civil or inter faith ceremony. Perfect for the ultimate fairytale wedding beyond compare.
Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?
Cluny Castle is very much an exclusive use venue offering all guests complete privacy with an intimate feel.
Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?
Our beautiful and unique Chapel, complete with beautiful stained glass windows, dark oak pews and seating for up to 100 guests, creates the most wonderfully romantic atmosphere and truly magical setting in which to exchange your vows whether it be a religious or humanist ceremony.
For the smaller more intimate weddings up to 24, the beautiful Dining Room & Drawing Room make a stunning and memorable setting to celebrate your special day. We then have the incomparable Tenants’ Hall, seating up to 90 guests, which is a superb and truly unique setting for dinner and dancing! Perfectly situated directly below our Chapel, its beautiful stained glass mullioned windows and parquet flooring make it the perfect location for guests to enjoy the evening’s festivities.
For larger weddings, we have several sites within the stunning grounds for a marquee, all of which enjoy the magnificent backdrop of the Castle. Planning and designing your marquee wedding is exciting and fun. Whether you want an informal country style marquee with simple styling or an opulent vintage style wedding, You choose any size, layout, theme or style, clear windows or panoramic roof to take advantage of the stunning background and beautiful evening skies, the only limitation is your imagination. Marquees really are a wonderful blank canvas for you to create an unforgettable wedding completely unique to you.

All of our weddings at Cluny are completely bespoke. We have different options that are available at the castle therefore we like to tailor every wedding to exactly to what our bride and grooms are specifically looking for.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
Offering flexibility and freedom of choice, our couples can select from our wonderful panel of exclusive catering partners that we have handpicked to work with. All enjoy an enviable reputation for designing and delivering fabulous food, exceptional service and creating the ‘wow factor’ in their menus.
Innovative and artistic and using only the very best locally sourced, seasonal produce, the team of chefs chosen will provide an amazing and memorable culinary experience for every guest to savour.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
All of our caterers will allow couples to bring their own alcohol or most will also provide a cash bar if preferred. We ourselves do not charge any corkage, however the caterers may charge corkage or a drinks service charge if couples bring their own alcohol. We therefore advise discussing this with the caterers directly.
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Our couples are of course free to choose their own wedding entertainment themselves should they wish to do so. We understand that every wedding is unique and whilst some couples know exactly what they want in terms of entertainment there are some that require a little extra help and we are more than happy to recommend all sorts of entertainment from ceilidh bands to string quartets to DJs to pipers.
We don’t have a specific sound system on site however we find that the majority of bands and DJs like to take their own equipment. We can of course also hire in PA systems for speeches and background music if required.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
As well as being a simply beautiful setting for your wedding, we are delighted to announce a very exciting renovation project, which will include a full upgrade of our West Wing apartment which sleeps 10, and also the complete refurbishment of the top floor of the castle to introduce eight fantastic brand new en suite bedrooms and bathrooms.
This will therefore mean that in addition to complete exclusivity of the castle and grounds for a wedding, we will be now also be able to offer overnight accommodation to bridal parties sleeping up to 26 guests.
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
We pride ourselves on remaining as flexible as we can for our couples and tailoring their day exactly how they would like it to be. Offering a superior and imaginative service with exceptional attention to detail, our dedicated wedding coordinator is on hand to help guide our couples through every aspect of their wedding to ensure that their special day is absolutely perfect in every way.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
Generally access and set up takes place the day prior to the wedding, however we try to remain as flexible as possible for our clients and suppliers and access can be arranged earlier if necessary.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
As guests admire the magnificent surroundings and enjoy the celebrations, the bridal party can take time out to enjoy some wonderfully secluded spots within the beautiful grounds and stunning interiors of the castle for photographs. These provide the most amazing locations and backdrops for you to capture magical moments perfectly and create lasting memories for years to come.
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
Choose a venue that is flexible to your needs but most importantly, choose a venue that you fall in love with! It’s one of the most important days of your life and you will be creating memories that will last a lifetime so it needs to be right. You will know as soon as you find the right one and it should make you feel excited every time you think of your wedding day.
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
There are so many to choose from but, that moment the bride has with her bridesmaids and whoever is giving her away seconds before she walks down the aisle is always a very special time, but equally, that moment when the groom sees his future wife for the very first time is truly special.
I do also love the story of one of our brides who had been searching, unsuccessfully, for over 3 years for her dream wedding venue, burst into tears as soon as she stepped into the castle. That is a moment and a reaction we wish to recreate every time we show people around!
