With so much more to tell us, we’ll hand you straight over to Jenna.

Tell us a little about yourself and your business

My name is Jenna and I am the Creative Director at multi-award winning design studio, Wonderland Invites. I wasn’t always a wedding stationer; I actually started out my career working in advertising at ITV in London following my graduation from the University of Huddersfield. After ten years spent in marketing and advertising roles and a gap year living in Thailand and Australia, I quit work to concentrate on Wonderland Invites.

I love all things bohemian and rustic, and I style myself as a design-led stationer rather than being led by trends. I love to work with my clients to create beautiful, modern stationery with a twist of whimsical, boho goodness. The majority of my clients get married in their local church or have a celebrant led blessing, followed by a fantastic party with all their loved ones outdoors or in a tipi, marquee or in a barn. I also supply lots of weddings in Italy, Spain and France, alongside weddings in the US and Australia.

What motivated you to start your business?

Well, I never really decided to start a business…I just got involved with friends weddings for a bit of fun on the side of my marketing job in London. After a while though, I decided to open an Etsy shop, but it wasn’t until I was on maternity leave in 2016 when things really started to build. In the following March, I quit my job. Going back to work after having my eldest had really put things into perspective for me and I struggled spending so much time away from my daughter.

Leaving work was scary; I gave up a good income and a social life at the office. However, running my business has allowed me to be there for my little people – I never miss anything important 🙂

Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business

It varies day to day; I don’t work set hours as I fit in my work around my children. One day I might work a typical 9-5 day, but on others, I might work from 8pm-2am whilst the children are asleep.

Generally, I try to answer emails every other day and I setup quotes as and when a request comes in. I try to split my week up into different days for different things; one day might be spent working on bespoke client designs and another might be spent setting up items for print. Each day I will spend time on social media, which I utilise for attracting new clients.

If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?

In a nutshell; beautiful, personalised designs with a prompt, dedicated service. My aesthetic is very bohemian and rustic, with a twist of whimsical as and when the brief fits.

I have worked hard over the years to hone my style and I love to work with clients who like to nurture my creativity when it comes to playing with their brief. My bespoke design service is my most popular service; within this, clients receive one of a kind stationery which is completely and utterly tailored in a labour of love to them and their big day.

How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?

Firstly, I think it’s about aesthetics; first impressions are so important and with my product being a physical one, imagery is super crucial. Second, it’s about a feeling. By this time couples are most of the way sold; the linchpin is the vibe they get from the supplier.

I would always recommend to couples getting to know a supplier via their online presence before getting in touch. Look at their work, see how they communicate with people on social media, check out their website…do you know what they look like, what their tone of voice is? If they seem lovely, committed, passionate, creative…then get in touch with them!

What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?

To be honest, this is quite tough…I rarely get to see the action on a couples big day. But last year I did create some really beautiful vow cards for a couple and the mother of the bride; they each held these cards and read from them during the ceremony, after which the couple had them framed and arranged on a wall in their home. I thought that was so beautiful; a permanent reminder of their vows and a gorgeous reading from the brides mum.

The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more

Yes! I am also a brand stylist – I offer branding and marketing packages to small businesses, alongside mentoring services too. I also offer some copywriting services. My b2b arm is called The Wonderbrand. I also run Wed in The Wild – although this is on a bit of a hiatus at the moment – see next point!

I am also in the process of setting up a Crowdfunder for Wed in The Wild, which is really exciting as it will allow me to provide a better user experience for couples and for suppliers too.

And finally, what or who inspires you and why?

Oh lots. Nature, flowers, good architecture and a great coffee in the morning. Working with inspirational women in the wedding industry – I am a big supporter of women in business and I take notes daily from people who inspire me in the world of work…Nicola Dixon (photographer), Rebecca Carpenter (photographer), Laura Celiz (stylist), Karen Whybro (Rock The Frock owner). And lastly, my family. My beautiful kids and wonderful other half, Rich. They are my biggest inspiration.
