A fabulously Atmospheric 1970’s Inspired Boho Shoot

by Michelle

Laid back boho vibes abound in this fabulously atmospheric photo shoot captured beautifully by the super talented Pixie at Pixie Abbot Photography. It takes a really special skill to capture the mood of an era, and Pixie and the team really have done a superb job in visualising the essence of free spirited bohemia.

Pauntley Court the venue for the shoot was also such an inspired choice as it exudes character and quirkiness. The beautifully refined indoor areas, including the ballroom are perfect for your ceremony. And you can also celebrate in it’s unique and relaxed indoor/outdoor spaces, not forgetting the stunning gardens. It’s the perfect choice for both intimate and larger weddings where you have the option of a marquee overlooking the grounds and private lake.

The hair and make up echoed the 1970’s ambience wonderfully well with loose flowing locks styled by Charlotte Holder and such a wonderfully entrancing look skilfully created by Genevieve Turley.

With so much more to tell us about the shoot, we’ll hand you straight over to Pixie.

Did the shoot have a title?

1970’s Boho

What was the inspiration for the shoot?

Much of our inspiration came from the 1970’s era – those bohemian/hippie, laid-back vibes…. Earthy, rustic tones in the flowers (with the use of on-trend pampas grass to bring in the modern), the iconic 70’s wicker ‘peacock chairs’, a genuine 1970’s ethereal gown, Sharon Tate inspired eye makeup … The eclectic indoor/outdoor space at Pauntley Court where the shoot took place, was the perfect setting.

Where and when did the shoot take place? Can you tell us anything further about the location?

Pauntley Court is painted a reddish earth colour, reflecting the iron-rich soil of the area, and curled around a central courtyard, it glows rosily in the evening sun, surrounded by munching cows and sheep, its only neighbours.

The Dovecote and the Norman Church. Pauntley Court is a truly magical and unique country wedding venue, ideal for your perfectly formed, exclusive wedding. Situated in Gloucestershire on the Worcestershire and Herefordshire borders, the Pauntley Court estate has a beautiful Norman Church on site.

It is a breathtaking setting with stunning formal gardens and far reaching views from the haha down to the lake and the River Leadon Valley beyond, perfect for an intimate wedding of up to 40,  or a marquee reception for up to 150 guests.

Describe the style of the shoot. Was there a specific theme?

A modern take on a 1970’s carefree, bohemian bridal scene.

What was the main focus of the shoot? What were you promoting?

We wanted to create an opportunity to exhibit our creative potential for this shoot. It’s important that brides are inspired by what we can do.

We feel that our aim was achieved and it was so much fun working with a group of like minded individuals, we have lots of plans and ideas for this summer.

What were the highlights from the shoot?

I’d say the highlights were definitely the original 1970’s Bridal gown, As well as the Sharon Tate inspired makeup.
