Tell us about your venue

Stratton Court Barn is a wonderful countryside venue. It’s situated in North Oxfordshire, on a privately owned farm. Built in traditional Cotswold stone, the barn offers a beautifully relaxed and intimate setting for your celebrations.

Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?

Yes, absolutely!

Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?

The barn itself and front lawn, courtyard and gardens are just for you. However, there might be a group of people enjoying a quad bike safari in a field belonging to the farm, but on the other side of the woods.

Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer

We are adamant that every wedding at Stratton Court Barn should be unique, which is why we don’t offer any set packages.

Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?

We have a select list – actually a rather extensive list! – of approved caterers that our couples are allowed to choose from. The companies all offer different styles of food and service, from vintage afternoon teas to fine dining, in order to cater for each couple’s unique food requirements and budgets.

Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?

We request that all drinks are purchased from our bar during evening recipients. (There is an option to pay for corkage for daytime drinks)

Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?

We encourage couples to choose their own entertainment! All we ask is to see a copy of the entertainer’s public liability insurance beforehand.

Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?

I’m afraid we don’t have any accommodation on site. However, we work with a beautiful local hotel (The Manor in Weston-on-the-Green) who offer block booking rates to our couples.

Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?

Yes, absolutely! I’m here from the initial enquiry, through all planning, and also manage the weddings on the day.

How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?

The venue is available from 8.30am on the morning of the wedding. However, the bridal party never have to worry about having to get involved: I will set up any decorations not provided by a professional (such as a florist or stylist).

Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?

We do indeed! We have a courtyard, a reception lawn – group photos look fantastic on the lawn in front of the farm house – and the bride and groom also have access to the owners’ private garden for some stunning photo opportunities.

What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?

It has to feel right. You have to feel relaxed, and comfortable, in order to enjoy your wedding day once it comes around.

Ideally you’ll have a real trust and report with the venue contact, so that liaising with the venue doesn’t cause any undue stress in the lead up to the big day. You’ll have enough to worry about!

Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?

This is a tough one… I love the groom’s speech, and often been moved to tears and fits of laughter from many a groom! I’ve had hilarious moments, like when a bride & groom climbed aboard a bucking bronco together, and another when a groom got dressed as Ringo Starr and performed the most incredible guitar riff, and yet another when a bride – petite and beautiful and serene – managed to drink most everybody under the table, yet never lost her pose.

But the one moment that stands out most, is standing in the barn with one of my brides, at the very end of the night, with nearly all weddings guests outside waiting to send the happy couple off, and she turns to me, tears sparkling in her eyes, and says “this has been the happiest day of my life – I don’t want to leave, I don’t want it to end”. Now that’s how every bride should feel!
