Wow, please form an orderly queue and take us there now. But first we’ll let owner Beth tempt you with you even more of Cignella’s delights.

How long have you owned Cignella, and what improvements have you made during this time?

We purchased Cignella just over 12 years ago, but we only opened the doors to our wonderful guests in 2013. When purchased it was originally a Tuscan farm and so the Cignella you see today has been lovingly renovated in the same footprint as the old farm, and with the original farmhouse still standing.

The roofs, rafters and beams have been skilfully restored using local materials and traditional techniques so that the appearance remains truly Tuscan.

During the renovation, we have emphasised our genuine interest in the style and design of Cignella; everything you see in the villas and apartments, including the furniture, paintings and soft furnishings, have been personally sourced by ourselves and our family, from outlets in the surrounding countryside.

Decorated in traditional Tuscan colours, we always try to remind ours guests of the Italian culture that has been present in this location for centuries.

Cignella truly offers an idyllic destination for a honeymoon because it lies in the heart of Tuscany, where romance and excitement eternally lie but also offers an escape on the rolling hills for some irreplaceable alone time and stunning views. Perfect for your first Mr and Mrs holiday!

What are the top three local sights that you would recommend visiting?

Explore Chianti and sample traditional Tuscan wine – visit Donatella Cinelli Colombini for the perfect glass of wine, while overlooking the striking rolling hills and beautiful scenery.

Watch a sunset overlooking Piazzale Michelangelo – Follow the path to the top of the hill and become instantly mesmerised by the stupendous views that never fail to capture the heart.

Dip into the local, natural hot springs – luxuriate together in thermal waters at one of the many spas dotted throughout the region including Bagno Vignoni, San Filippo and Rapolano Terme.

Tuscany is a region famed for it’s fabulous food and wine, what are your particular gastronomic recommendations?

Like you said, Tuscany is known for its delicious cuisine; Il Ghibellino, in Cortona, offers a wonderful selection of traditional Tuscan food, exquisite wines and great deserts. Ristorante Muzzicone, in Castiglion Fiorentino, is famous for its wide selections of meats – especially their Fiorentina steak, which weighs from 1kg upward!

We also really enjoy La Rocca – our favourite item on the menu is their delicious bruschetta with vegetables, beans and extra virgin olive oil.

In addition to operating as a luxurious holiday and honeymoon destination, do you have any plans to host destination weddings?

We would love to host a wedding at Cignella. We are currently in the process of adding a number of facilities to the complex so watch this space!
