This is such an ice breaker will add a really social touch your day as we’re sure that even your most laid back guests won’t be able to resist trying a tattoo or two by the time the evening’s out.

Over to Emma now to tell us more about her expanding business.

Tell us a little about yourself and your business

I’m Emma, the owner and boss of Doris Loves. My wonderful geeky husband Dom, helps me out with my IT and general mover (he even got to buy a long wheel based transit) with other little pixies who help me now and again but basically its just me!

We hire out 4 ft high light up letters which are all handcrafted by us (we have 150 letters, numbers and symbols) plus Neon lights and a temporary tattoo station with our own designed tattoos.

A bit more about me:- I love sharks, storms (but maybe not together), shoes, handbags (far too many to count) and football – I’m an avid season ticket holder of the red side in Manchester! I’m a clarinet player who almost went professional but decided that playing it for the love of it was much more my thing.

We have 3 very furry babies – 2 staffordshire bull terrier crosses called Poppy and Skye and a great big Alsatian called Princess that we rescues from the “toe” of Italy – a long story that involves a 3,200 mile round trip in a car to get our passports stolen all in order to save a dog! (Yes we are quite that mad!!)  So usually you can see us in the park with every other dog owner running in the opposite direction – they are just the biggest, softest babies though!

What motivated you to start your business?

The business in fact started in 2012 with the previous owner, Amanda. I was a civil servant for 15 years decided to quit as it was just not what I wanted, took some time out to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and saw Doris Loves was for sale and just had to take it on!

Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business

No day is the same – could be doing wedmin one day, designing tattoos, dealing with couriers, light maintenance, putting my creative hat on to come up with new ideas, photo shoots with other suppliers, I just love the variety!

If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?

Someone who goes the extra mile! I’m passionate about our letters as they are unique and  as much as I can will try and help in anyway that I can.

Our letters are of the highest quality and as they are battery operated they can litearlly go anywhere from outside, hanging on trees, attached to walls, on a beach, you name it we have done it!

How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?

Its all about your gut! You usually know if a company is the right fit.

Our letters have a particular style about them and use a different font to others plus the type of light used isn’t all bling it defines the letter more.

What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?

Too many to choose! But we love tattooing guests especially the ones that are so reluctant to and once they have had one they come back for more!

The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more

We hire our letters to all all sorts of events, from award shows, charity events, university balls to shop openings.

We do the same with the tattoo station as well.

What have you got planned for the next 12 months?

Our lights going into some amazing places – but not going to give the game away – sorry!

And finally, what or who inspires you and why?

My mum and dad – always been hardworking with a love for life.
