Tell us a little about yourself and your business
My company is founded on a love of creating handmade food made with love presented beautifully on vintage china and glassware, served by people who love the business as much as I do.
What motivated you to start your business?
I qualified in catering in 2007 and worked in many venues learning the trade and refining my skills. With a love of home baking a several years running a small business from home in 2014 I opened my tearooms and the outside catering quickly followed as clients naturally would ask me to bake celebration cakes and private party catering after experiencing a slice of cake or afternoon tea at the shop.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
On a daily basis we get up to all sorts! Whether it’s catering for weddings, christenings, corporate lunches, events or baking a spectacular naked cake sponge every day is different.
All enquiries come through to me (Sarah) in the catering office and I arrange all consultations, bookings and logistics to make every occasion extra special.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
From initial enquiry right through to on the day of the function you can expect excellent communication throughout so we can capture every small detail. Delicious handmade food and service to warm the hearts of every guest.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
Meet them, its as important for us to find a good fit with our clients as it is for us to fulfil your expectations. Follow them on social media to get a taste of what their consistent offering is.
Ask for testimonials, ideally that can be accompanied with photos or authenticated with a phone call.
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
Ooh to many choose! The halloween themed afternoon tea wedding in Much Wenlock was picturesque with contrasting linen and plenty to keep the little ones entertained, or the boho teepee complete with street party themed seating and decadent antipasti style canapes at Sandon Hall in Staffordshire on a glorious august day we’re definitely two favorites.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
We certainly do, catering for all occasions is our catering tagline and wedding catering is only a part of what we offer. Canapes for a business engagement, celebration cakes, private lunches and dessert tables are also regular bookings.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
We are looking to move our outside catering part of the business to a unit away from the tearooms, this will allow us to expand further and even purchase a vintage vehicle or two to use at events.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
Nigella Lawson, her attitude to creating superb quality food that always has taste at the forefront of her recipes and a homely look to every dish is inspiring followed by Kirsty Allsopp, who’s vintage wardrobe is swoon worthy!
