Tell us about your venue

Historic Broyle Place is a magnificent Grade II Elizabethan Manor House in the Sussex village of Ringmer. Surrounded by ancient oaks and ponds, it is a truly magical place for a romantic wedding day.

Today it still is a privately owned property and has a rich history of illustrious and prominent owners: Theobald, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 12th century, Queen Elizabeth I in the 16th Century, and later on the Sackville and Springett families.

Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?

We are happy to welcome couples of any sexual orientation and creed.

Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?

We offer exclusive use of Broyle Place which means that our full attention is on the couple getting married, their families and friends without anyone interrupting their very special day.

Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?

While we can hold intimate ceremonies of up to 55 in the Great Hall of the house, Broyle Place is also licensed for outdoor ceremonies in the Boat House, which is surrounded by lawns, mature trees and ponds and can seat 150.

Our bespoke marquee can seat up to 150 for the wedding breakfast and at night 200 guests can dance the night away.

Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer

The exclusive use includes our romantic Bridal Suite for the Bride to get ready and of course for the wedding night, the Boat House or Great Hall for the ceremony, the gardens, grounds and House for drinks and photographs.

We also have our large marquee with white LED dance floor and starlight ceiling cloth, carpeted hard flooring, tables & chairs, sofas, chandeliers and uplighters for the wedding breakfast and evening and complimentary large car parking.

Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?

We work exclusively with two outstanding approved caterers who can provide a superb choice of menus, from a relaxed and informal wood fired Sussex spit roast, BBQ or buffet to a traditional wedding breakfast.

Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?

This is something that has to be arranged with our caterers but our couples can provide their own drinks and in this case a corkage fee applies.

Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?

Except for our approved caterers, our couples can choose any supplier they like.

Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?

Apart from the beautiful Bridal Suite we also have a second bedroom with four poster bed in the house as well as glamping accommodation in Mongolian Yurts and wooden Eco-lodges.

The next morning all guests who stayed overnight have breakfast together in our double decker Love-Bus.

Do you have an in-house wedding planner?

The same people who take care of our couples during the planning stage  will also be at Broyle Place on the wedding day, leaving everyone free to enjoy one of the best days of their lives.

How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?

If we don’t have a wedding the previous day our couples can come and decorate from noon the day before the wedding.  This is something we will confirm several months beforehand.

Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?

We have extensive and beautiful grounds with mature trees and lovely statues dotted around as well as several ponds with overhanging willow trees.

The house is truly magical inside and out.  It has a welcoming feel and true warmth together with buckets of charm.

There is a picture perfect large staircase with red carpet as well as an enormous fireplace lit by candle light and all rooms are filled with antique furniture.

What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?

Visit different types of venues to find out what you like and where you feel comfortable.  And don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions.

Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?

There have been so many special moments and laughter as well as those tears that mean happiness and pride.

We have had owls deliver rings, a bride racing her new husband and the ushers over the lawn on a space hopper, another bride riding her horse in wedding dress, couples playing air guitar or having family dance offs… the list and memories are endless.

All couples are different and I just love standing back and watch people chatting, dancing and having an amazing time.
