Samlesbury Hall – A Stunning Medieval Style Hall in Lancashire

by Michelle

Samlesbury Hall is one of the most stunning stately homes in Lancashire, and what an outstanding venue it would be for your wedding.

From the grand splendour of the Great Hall, through to the intimacy of the beautiful Whittaker Room where your ceremony can be held, and the gorgeous setting of your own private gardens. All this will be yours exclusively for the day.

Together with an exquisite menu and wine list, designed especially for you, a Samlesbury Hall is just waiting to be enjoyed and the team will do all they can to ensure that your special day is as perfect as can be.

The Hall is available on Fridays and Saturdays for weddings and other days by special arrangement.

We’ll hand you over to Lauren now to tell you much more about this picture perfect venue.

Tell us about your venue

Our beautiful Hall is nearly 700 years old and instantly recognisable from its medieval style timber black walls with white quatrefoils.

We have hosted weddings for over 60 years, with many couples now coming back to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary!

We are happy to take care of your entire day – from the ceremony right through to the breakfast the following morning.

Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?

We are licensed for ceremonies with up to 120 guests and the beautiful Whittaker Room, with windows from Whalley Abbey is perfect for you to take your vows in.

Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?

For your wedding day, the Hall closes completely to the public, only allowing invited guests through the doors.  You will have exclusive use of the Hall and its surrounding grounds.

Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?

Licensed for ceremonies with up to 120 guests, the Hall can cater for 150 during the day and up to 250 in the evening.  We also offer no minimum numbers, so smaller parties are also welcome.

Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer

All our weddings are completely bespoke to you – just let us know how many guests you are expecting and what you would like to eat!

Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?

We have our own team of chefs, who have won Taste Lancashire’s highest quality award for the past eight years running.  From the first canapé to the hog roast at the end of the evening, all food we serve will make your wedding a memorable one.

Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?

We allow couples to bring their own alcohol in for the day reception for a corkage fee if they wish.

Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?

Couples are welcome to choose their own wedding entertainment and we are happy to accommodate bands and DJs.  We also have SONOS throughout the Hall, making background playlists of your favourite songs extremely easy!

Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?

The gatehouse lodge is reserved for the happy couple, but there is also luxury en-suite accommodation (with a difference!) in the form of Shepherd’s Huts, with enough accommodation for up to 100 guests.

Beds for the evening are just a short stroll away in the gardens and your friends and family can join you in the morning for breakfast at the Hall.

Do you have an in-house wedding planner?

All couples will benefit from the help and experience of our wedding manager, who will guide you right through from booking until the big day itself.

How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?

We usually ask that this happens on the morning itself, unless the evening before is available.

Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?

We have an abundance of outdoor space for photography and the hall itself provides a perfect backdrop for your first pictures together as a married couple.

What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?

From the moment you walk through the doors you will fall in love instantly with your wedding venue.  Don’t be too reliant on the good weather – we are lucky enough to have beautiful indoor spaces as well as out.

Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?

Watching brides & grooms become a part of our history is very special.  The Hall, as a registered charity, relies on the support from weddings held here, but it is wonderful to know the Hall also plays a big part in other people’s lives.

We love watching couples have the best day of their lives, without having to worry about how the day is going.  We especially love seeing couples return to the hall for lunch or a day out years after their big day also!
