The Wedding Alchemist is your go to wedding stylist if you’re looking to style your wedding in a fun slightly quirky off beat way, but don’t want the stress of doing everything yourself.
The range of wedding packages at The Wedding alchemist range from simple prop hire to full blown venue styling with the option of going totally bespoke to create your dream one of a kind day.
We love the fact that Caroline at The Wedding Alchemist has a no rule book approach to weddings. Instead the focus and emphasis is on you as a couple having the weeding you want rather than the one you think you should have.
In addition to styling your venue, Caroline can also create a range of bespoke decorative elements for your wedding from table runners, garlands, table centrepieces and much more for that unique handmade touch, whilst ensuring a cohesive look is maintained to keep everything looking pulled together and gorgeous.
We’ll hand you straight over to Caroline now to tell you more.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business
I am a trained interior design with a passion for anything beautiful. I have grown up with a love of anything arty from paintings to ceramics and I bring this to my work as I love to make bespoke items as well as providing general styling.
My Dad was a talented artist but always kept it as a side line and I promised myself I would do whatever I could to make creating more of a business than just a hobby.
What motivated you to start your business?
After completing my degree following the recession really taking hold I had a brief period between jobs and I started making things. After a brief stint making things I realised I could combine all my sets of skills and what I enjoyed most by going into wedding styling.
I had worked in photo styling for big companies in the interior design field and really enjoyed creating a unique environment. Really though the final decision maker like most wedding professionals was getting married myself and really wishing as much as I loved making and styling everything I could have had someone I trusted to do it for me so I had a bit more time to enjoy the day itself and get ready to get married.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
I also lecture in Interior Architecture and design so that is usually my morning activity. My afternoons are spent creating mood boards for clients, sourcing products, making bespoke items, packing for events, and general admin like social media updates, blogging and other things which mainly involve spreadsheets.
I love the variation my job brings but it takes an equal amount of creativity and organisation.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
A personal service! I realise everyone is different and there is no one size fits all. Some people want custom table runners, some want some style guidance, some want the whole service from inspiration to set up.
I work with so many different people and every wedding is different which is what I love about it.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
I think if you explain what you are after if you get excitement and enthusiasm and great ideas back then you know you are working with the right person.
If someone treats you like a unique individual and responds to you as an individual rather than just an automated response you know they will have time to listen to your unique ideas.
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
Getting a thank you card from one of my clients with a mention that their wedding was to be featured in Rock N Roll Bride.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
I can style any type of event. I can also create bespoke items for different events or occasions, there is no limit really.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
Lots of wedding fairs, some really interesting weddings and studio renovations to make space for some lovely new stock pieces.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
I find inspiration everywhere. It is hard to say what inspires me as everything does. I never switch off. I am always seeing things which give me ideas. I am one of those people who keeps a sketchbook in my handbag and by my bedside table so I can always note down ideas when they come to me.
