We have a gorgeous coastal styled shoot for you today, brought to us by Jemma at Shoe Design & Bridal By J. The shoot brings together so many talented suppliers who are all credited below. Boho luxe was the vibe of the shoot with the central theme being the the delights of the seaside, captured beautifully by Photos By Jim.
We’ve certainly noticed an increase in destination coastal weddings throughout the UK and we’re not at all surprised as we have such a glorious coastline and this shoot aims to showcase how to incorporate this into your wedding in a relaxed, yet glamorous and elegant way. With so much more to tell us we’ll hand you straight over to Jemma now.
What was the inspiration for the shoot?
The inspiration for this photoshoot was to demonstrate an intimate, boho styled wedding, with a touch of luxury to bring some inspiration to brides looking for ideas in planning for their beach/ destination wedding.
It was also a great opportunity to show that this can still be achieved with venues in the UK for those unable to travel abroad. Due to the nature of the photoshoot, this needed to take place near the seafront.
This presented the opportunity to involve suppliers across several regions, once a suitable venue had been confirmed.
Where and when did the shoot take place? Can you tell us anything further about the location?
The photoshoot took place in September 2018 at Itchenor Sailing Club in Chichester, West Sussex. With the wooden jetty on the harbour front, this made the ideal area for an intimate ceremony setting, with a seaside feel.
The conservatory dining area itself overlooks the harbour seafront, adding a sense of relaxation for wedding guests with the passing boats, whilst quaint seafront view rooms add further to the intimate setting.
This enables everything in one place for a wedding from bridal prep, to an intimate ceremony with dining, overnight stay and wedding breakfast. With a stony beach area just a short nature walk away, this venue is a real hidden gem.
Describe the style of the shoot. Was there a specific theme?
The shoot was luxury boho with a seaside theme. The multi tonal shades of blue against crisp white kept the overall colour scheme simplistic and in fitting with the beach feel, allowing the seaside elements and sand to stand out. Boho can be seen from the models natural, relaxed hair styling and make up, alongside rustic signs, with touches of luxury present throughout the shoot in the bridal wear, jewellery and bridal accessories as well as in the décor styling.
I also wanted to show the use of 2 designer dresses, the idea being for the ceremony to be held on the jetty in the more formal True Bride wedding dress, following with a small, intimate beach themed dinner before heading onto the beach for a ‘beach party’, where our model can be seen a more relaxed, bohemian style floaty Lillian West wedding dress, with the on trend thigh split and barefoot crystal sandals.
What was the main focus of the shoot? What were you promoting?
Due to elements of the photoshoot being quite unique, this was the ideal opportunity for suppliers to demonstrate their products and services to appeal to and inspire boho brides looking for ideas, as well as to brides looking for inspiration for a beach /destination wedding.
What were the highlights from the shoot?
This shoot allowed for the opportunity to bring together a group of suppliers from many different regions, which in itself opens so many networking opportunities. The vision for the shoot was discussed in detail prior and everyone contributed on the day as a team with the styling.
All of the products were handmade especially for the day and fitted the theme perfectly. It was also great fun shooting with two designer wedding dresses to demonstrate a more relaxed style bridal look for an after ‘beach party’ following the more formal ceremony setting, enabling our photographer to create some incredible creative shots outdoors.
The setting and scenery allowed our photographer Jim (Photos by Jim) to bring our styled shoot to life with his attention to detail and creativity, displaying how much fun a beach themed wedding can be even whilst caught in the wind!
The two beautiful dresses for this photo shoot were kindly supplied by The Bridal Lounge, by designers Tru Bride featuring for the ceremony and Lillian West, perfect for the outdoors with the relaxed thigh split and floaty skirt.
Complementing the theme and bridal wear is a shell and pearl hairpiece, together with lace sandals featuring shells and Swarovski crystal starfish, followed by Chantilly lace and Preciosa crystal barefoot sandals, handmade by Shoe Design and Bridal by J. Katie can also be seen wearing stunning silver shell jewellery from award winning inspired by nature jewellery designer Barking Hen Jewellery.
The stunning paper bouquet and table flower arrangements incorporating various blue shades with hints of pearl shells were created by Clare at Petal and Bird and the cake, featuring ruffles and ombre sugar shells by Liz at Cakebuds. Northern Hands supplied their beautiful plant dyed ribbons for the photo shoot, which can be seen featured on the bouquet and cake.
Our model, Katie’s (Creative Curls by Katie) relaxed, side sweeping loosely plaited hairstyle and soft make up was created by Polkadot Hair and Make Up.
Stationery featuring Swarovski crystal, seaside ‘messages in a bottle’ and wooden rustic ceremony/beach party signs created by Topikki.
The stunning archway provided by The Beautiful Day was the perfect intimate beach style ceremony setting, decorated with flowing white sashes supplied by Hire Your Day, finished with seaside motifs by the organiser. Pearl backdrops for the chairs which added to the luxury feel and lace runners were also supplied by Hire Your Day.
