Tell us a little about yourself and your business
I work mainly in the wedding industry but also work in photography studios doing make-overs, and have done some TV work and also specialise in vintage hair and make-up.
What motivated you to start your business?
I reached my mid 30’s and was bored and unfulfilled in my retail job and needed to do something new!I have always been into make-up and fashion so it wasn’t a hard decision to decide what to do.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
Most of my work is at weekends , doing weddings or trials for wedding. I usually do one or two days in the studio and am lucky to always have a couple of days free to catch up with friends or spend time researching new make-up and looks!
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
I pride myself in always listening to each client to determine what they want from their make-up look, its so important that they are happy and that I create a look for them that reflects them and that they feel beautiful in, rather than the latest trends which can be scary for some brides that don’t ever wear a lot of make-up.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
I like to send them images of my previous work and also meet for a chat so they are confident in choosing someone for their wedding make-up and hair.
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
Too many to mention! But the best ones are when I really feel part of the wedding preparations and I even shed a tear when they get intp their dresses, and I have been lucky enough to have been sent thank you cards from brides.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
I love doing something that can really stretch my mind from time to time, so enjoy doing styled shoots with fellow suppliers, and also collaborative editorial/fashion shoots.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
Next year I have many weddings booked in already so I am sure they will keep me busy! Also I have plans to expand my business so I can pass on the knowledge I have gained over the years.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
Makeup wise I am inspired by artists like Sonia Rosselli, Lisa Eldridge and Charlotte Tilbury who continue to grow and inspire the industry.
Personally I am inspired by my friends and fellow wedding suppliers as we encourage and support each other in the crazy world of weddings that we love!
