Caroline and Carl’s mid-summer wedding was a wonderfully relaxed day with family and friends. Bathed in glorious summer sunshine, good food and music were the focus of the celebrations which had a charming rock and rose theme.
Caroline was absolutely stunning in a figure hugging gown whilst Carl and his groomsmen looked so dashing in their naval uniforms.
Taking full advantage of the summer heatwave, much of the day was spontaneously spent outside, including a super romantic first dance with a sunset backdrop.
We love Caroline’s use of rose gold and soft pinks; such a timeless and elegant combination which chimed perfectly with their venue and it’s fabulous Devon countryside setting.
Over to Caroline and Carl now to tell us more about their amazing day with beautiful sun dappled photography by Emma Barrow.
What was the style of your wedding?
A relaxed day with close friends and family. Good food and Good music.
How did you make your day feel really personal to you as a couple?
The theme was Rock N Rose. A play on Rock n Roll and Rose Gold. We went for a music theme with rose gold accessories. We both have a passion for live music and we love going to live music events and concerts.
How did you decide on your venue?
We had heard of the Horn of Plenty as a Wedding Venue and we wanted somewhere we could have exclusivity for the day. After a drive to the venue on a beautiful Sunday evening just as the sunset, the setting was spectacular with breathtaking views over to Cornwall.
Once we visited the manager Julie, her warmth, hospitality and flexibility to give us the day we wanted was simply unbeatable.
Tell us about your wedding outfits
Carl wore his uniform. I opted for a classic lace gown that was figure hugging but with such delicate gorgeous detail, with the pearl underskirt it looked classic beside the Naval uniform.
What was your standout moment of your day?
Obviously, I loved every part of the day but luckily for us the weather was blue skies and sunny. We enjoyed the heatwave, and the spontaneity of the band playing outside (too warm inside)…
We loved the first dance and dancing outside as the sun went down over the moors.
What are your top tips for other couples planning their wedding?
I found it easy working round a theme that was personal to us but remained realistic with my budget. It is easy to get carried away but I worked out what was important to us and budgeted accordingly.
I used social media wedding pages for sales of decorations and also got some good deals nearer the wedding date.
I purchased my Bridesmaid dresses during Black Friday for a good price. I also recommend booking a videographer you will appreciate looking back on the day.
