We can accommodate up to 146 guests for a ceremony and dining and up to 250 for an evening reception!
Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
Each couple visiting us for the very first time meets with an experienced member of our team and enjoys a detailed initial visit and tour of the venue so that they fully understand everything we can offer and so that we can gain as much insight as possible into their plans and understand their own individual wedding aspirations and dreams.
We appreciate that budget is also important and so at this first meeting we put together a detailed and comprehensive cost estimate which is bespoke to each couple.
We also offer two mid-week packages which couples can choose should this suit them better depending on their guest numbers and budgets.
Regardless of which choice our couples make we are completely transparent with regards to our costings, publishing all our prices and availability, which helps hugely when couples are planning and budgeting for their big day.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
We have a team of very talented chefs and all our catering is in-house. Our own smallholding supplies nearly all our vegetables, herbs, fruit, eggs and pork whatever the season. We grow literally hundreds of vegetable varieties, with passion and care. It’s the key to our ultra-fresh, seasonal and organic wedding food menus.
Couples can choose from a formal three course served menu or any one of a number of buffets including a sumptuous Fusion Feast, a Hog Roast like no other you ever tasted, a Hot Buffet with a great choice of menu options or the time honoured BBQ.
Plus delicious salads of every variety. Prefer something else? That’s no trouble at all… Our chefs love to create new dishes so if you are looking for something that’s not on our standard menus just talk to us – we are very happy to be creative if you have your heart set on something special!
Our range of ethnic dishes is extensive and meets all tastes and budgets and all our wedding food is cooked to the moment and beautifully presented.
We also offer complimentary Menu Tasting evenings to our couples who book a bespoke wedding. This is an opportunity for couples to see, taste and rate over 30 of our signature dishes and is a hugely helpful for couples choosing their menu for their big day.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
We have an extensive wine list and offer a comprehensively stocked bar including a range of local ales and ciders. However couples wishing to bring their own wine for the drinks reception and meal can do so for a corkage charge.
We recommend however using our own drinks in the evening as this simplifies the process for our couples. We can of course source anything we don’t stock as standard and have done so on behalf of couples on many occasions so you can literally have whatever your heart desires!
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
We have a very comprehensive list of suppliers in all categories including entertainment and couples are free to choose from this list or source their own suppliers.
In addition to this we have 3 sound systems across the venue on which we are able to play our couples choice of music for ceremony, drinks reception and during the meal should couples prefer this rather than a live option. We are also able to hire in a sound system that couples can use for the evening party if they prefer to have their choice of music on a playlist rather than a live band or DJ.
We do however have different live bands and DJ’s here on a regular basis and are more than happy to work with your choice of entertainment.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
Yes we do! We have a great choice of accommodation on site from our luxurious bridal suite which is provided on a complimentary basis for all couples on the night of their wedding.
We also have another four bespoke en-suite guest bedrooms each decorated in a boutique style along with our five enchantingly quirky Romany Caravans, all double beds, meaning we can accommodate up to 24 people on site.
In addition to this more adventurous guests can pitch a tent and camp in the paddocks! We ask couples to allocate our accommodation options to their guests meaning they can ensure they have their nearest and dearest guests staying with them on site and seating with them for breakfast the morning after their wedding.
In addition to this we have three more luxury guest rooms sleeping another 6 or 7 guests which are exclusively reserved for our couples just a mile away at our new Bed & Breakfast accommodation located at one of our owners’ homes.
This additional facility increases the capacity couples have for overnight accommodation for their wedding guests which is something we know is hugely important to many couples.
Our maximum capacity for breakfast the following morning after your wedding day is 40 so if you have additional guests staying in the local area they can join you for breakfast the following morning should you wish.
We can recommend accommodation in the local area including B&B properties and guest houses in the neighbouring villages and larger hotels in and around the Cambridge / Royston area.
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
We do – in fact we have a whole team of them! Our wedding co-ordinators are always on hand to answer questions and we spend a lot of time getting to know our couples, both over the phone, via email and by holding menu tasting evenings, open evenings and detailed planning meetings with each couple.
It is our top priority to get to know all our couples and to make sure we give them as much support and guidance as they need in order to make sure their dreams become a reality on their wedding day.
Each couple will also have a dedicated Event Manager who is on hand throughout the wedding day taking care of all aspects of the day and all-importantly, making sure that every single minute detail is taken care of in line with the couples’ wishes.
The fact that we provide such a comprehensive service enables us to ensure that every aspect of the day flows smoothly and seamlessly. All of this means that our couples can completely relax and have the time of their lives in the treasured company of their nearest and dearest.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
The bridal party and any suppliers involved in the setup of the wedding can access the venue on the big day from 10am onwards to add any decorative or finishing touches.
We welcome all our couples to add their own unique sense of style to the venue with floristry, bunting, table decorations and finishing touches to compliment their theme and colour scheme for their big day!
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
Yes! South Farm offers over 20 acres of beautiful gardens and outdoors space so couple are spoilt for choice! The sweeping driveway is lined with cherry trees lit with twinkling fairy lights and leads to the beautiful country farmhouse beyond which the beautifully kept formal gardens offer an abundance of colour throughout the year.
Head through the gardens and you will find our orchard, wild flower garden and nuttery offering a stunning rustic meadow space for couples to wander and enjoy.
Our charming winter garden sits behind our pretty romany wagons and we have water features and woodland pathways that couples can roam and enjoy.
To top it all off we have a beautiful herb garden which signals the start of the smallholding where we grow all our fruit and vegetables. Couples embracing the farm wedding theme have also been known to venture into our polytunnels!
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
Look for a venue that embraces your dreams! South Farm offers a beautiful back-drop for couples to add their own personal touches. Brides favouring a rustic shabby chic theme will love the stunning back-drop the gardens and barn buildings offer.
Almost anything goes from opulent floral arrangements, simple greenery, vintage inspired bunting, flickering candle lanterns and twinkling fairy lights.
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
There really are so many moments it’s impossible to choose! We love the moments the bride shares with her bridesmaids before she walks down the aisle.
The moment the groom sees his bride is always a favourite and we love the famous South Farm rose petal confetti shower after the ceremony!
We recently had a couple choose a song during their ceremony rather than a reading and all their guests joined them in a lovely rendition of ‘Stand By Me’ – such a special moment with everyone singing their hearts out!
Another firm favourite is when couples venture into our barnyard and have pictures with our piglets!
We also had a bride choosing to arrive to the ceremony on our Tuk Tuk, her father’s face was a picture of delight when he realised he was getting a spin on an authentic Thai Tuk Tuk before giving his daughter away!
