Strawberry Hill House is an absolutely stunning South London wedding venue. This 18th century Gothic castle once home to Horace Walpole, boasts a beautifully landscaped garden, a wonderfully lavish Gallery acting as a truly unique setting you’re your ceremony and many smaller, more intimate spaces for your wedding party to enjoy on an exclusive use basis.

Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
We offer a ‘4’ hour package for those guests who just want to have their ceremony in the beautiful Gallery or for smaller ceremonies the Round Drawing Room. This gives guests ample time to enjoy the house and lawns, get married in a beautiful setting and a wonderful opportunity for some amazing photo opportunities in the rest of the house.
We can provide canapes/light bites or just fizz if preferred. Strawberry Hill House can cater for the wedding breakfast of up to 75 guests.

There is also the option of hiring the house for the whole day but this can be quoted on a ‘bespoke’ basis.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
As Strawberry Hill House is an historic property we do ask that couples choose from our preferred caterers list.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
We do offer a corkage option and this must be discussed with the preferred caterer from our list at the time of booking.
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Unfortunately due to the historic nature of the property and that the house has undergone an £11 million restoration we do not allow any dancing in the house however, you are welcome to have background music during the wedding breakfast.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
We do not offer accommodation on site but there are plenty of nearby hotels a very short walk away that can be recommended.
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
We have a highly experienced Events Team including our Senior Events Manager Valerie Beard and Events Manager Colin Marsden.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
This can be discussed at the time of booking but as most of our bookings are for exclusive hire of the house this is very rarely a problem.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
Yes we have beautiful lawns where drinks receptions can take place along with some memorable photographs.
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
To have a good look around and explore all possible options. There is a lot of choice out there and it is important to make sure that you choose a venue that feels right for you.
Also don’t sweat about the small stuff – if you have a good Events Team all will go well on the day. The most important thing is to both enjoy your day and have fun, don’t forget that all the people you care about are all in one place wishing you both a happy life!
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
Just seeing couples having a wonderful day – seeing their relief that it all has gone well and being part of making their special day go well. The thanks you get afterwards are truly very rewarding and after all you are only doing your job!
