And as you will see in the photos below, this works brilliantly giving you photos and memories to treasure for a lifetime. Over to Vivienne now to tell us more.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business
Hello! I’m Vivienne, avid tea drinker and taker of beautiful pictures. I shoot weddings across Scotland – documenting love, happiness and all the emotions in between, in a relaxed, natural and candid way.
What motivated you to start your business?
My first baby made his appearance in to the world just over 5 years ago, and I picked up my camera to capture every little moment I could of his early days. Things progressed naturally from there, and Vivienne Elizabeth Photography quickly came to be after that. I photographed a friends wedding three years ago after a bit (a lot!) of arm twisting!
Following the birth of my second child, I decided to make the move in to wedding photography full time, and now the majority of my work is weddings and newborn babies – being able to capture two of the happiest times of a persons life is amazing!
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
No two days are ever the same! There is a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ work to be done – culling, editing, admin, client meetings, venue visits – as well as actual shoots and weddings. There is also a lot to be done on social media, far more so than when I first started, but I love connecting with clients old and new through the likes of Instagram and Facebook.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
My approach is to tell the story of your day – capturing the big moments, the laughter, the tears (all the tears!), and all those little details of your day that might be missed or forgotten otherwise.
I keep things really natural– there’s no stiff or awkward posing, and I’ll make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy time with your guests (as well as stealing you away so you can have time together, just the two of you!).
My natural and inobtrusive style is perfect for couples who want a really relaxed day, with creative, candid and authentic photography.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
Your photographer is one of the few suppliers who is there with you from start to finish, so you have to be sure you will feel comfortable around them!
I always offer a consultation prior to booking, either in person, or via phone/Skype, so we can have a cup of tea and a chat about your amazing wedding plans – it’s a great opportunity to ask questions and get a feel of whether I’m the right photographer for you.
Couples will often book after just email discussion – I am always happy to talk weddings and welcome lots of questions, however you prefer to communicate!
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
Oh there has been so many! I really feel so lucky to get to be part of lots of beautiful, heartfelt and hilarious wedding days. I am more than willing to confess to having had a wee tear behind the camera on a few occasions!
Two stand out moments from last years weddings were both during the speeches actually. One of my bride’s grandad’s stood up and sang a traditional Irish song to everyone, which was just the loveliest – he was so proud of his beautiful granddaughter.
A few weeks later, the bridal party and friends formed a surprise choir to serenade the bride and groom, before I ran away with them down the field to catch the sunset. I have the best time at every wedding I photograph – it really is an honour to be there.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
When I’m not shooting weddings, I get to cuddle beautiful new babies and photograph them at home with their families. I am really looking forward to seeing some of my previous brides and grooms soon as they welcome their babies in to the world! I also can often be found chasing toddlers and singing silly songs during family sessions (the silly songs are often handy when it comes to group shots with reluctant flowergirls!)
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
We are already well in to wedding season, and I have a varied and eclectic mix of weddings all over Scotland ahead. From the shores of a loch, to beautiful converted barns, there is lots to get excited about. I’ll also be continuing to learn, grow and strive to provide the very best service I can to my couples
Personally, I’ve started horse riding again so I’m finding muscles I’d long forgotten I’d had!
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
I find inspiration from many avenues – you’ll often find me doing a happy dance when I find ‘the light’ at a wedding! But mostly, my couples inspire me – their love story, their families, and everything they put in to making their weddings their own, ignites my creativity and passion to create the most beautiful story of their love.
