Quite often, we have a vision of how we would like something to look, and wedding cakes are no exception and at Claire’s Sweet Temptations, you are encouraged to spill the beans, describe what you want and Claire will work with you to design your perfect cake for your big day. How awesome is that?
Claire says that ‘you’ll be amazed what can be made out of sugar’ and we think she’s spot on there, just take a look at the range of delicious cakes below. From über contemporary semi naked cakes to traditional style cakes enhanced with a modern, artistic twist, Claire really can turn her hand to any style you choose. We’ll hand you straight over to the lady herself now to tell you more about her business and her lush cakes.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business
I’m a bespoke cake designer and sugar artist. I make cakes from my studio in my pink farmhouse, on the north Cornwall coast. It’s as idyllic as it sounds.
What motivated you to start your business?
I was getting asked to make cakes for family and friends. I think it’s a common story. It started from there. Once it became clear that my sons medical conditions meant I would need to work from home, then it became the obvious decision.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
It can be very unromantic lol. I often end up covered in flour, icing, edible glitter…. all kinds of colours and sticky things. I do everything myself. So each day is different, some days baking. Some days making flowers, or designing.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
A completely personal service, and my undivided attention. They will deal with only me the whole way through their journey. They will also get a completely bespoke cake, designed just for them.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
Often it’s gut instinct, you click with a supplier or you don’t. Trust that feeling. Then have a good look at their website and/or FB page to see their previous work. You should get a good sense of their style from their past work.
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
Going backwards down the cobbles at Clovelly, in the open back land-rover, clutching the cake for dear life! We both made it safely.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
I will make cakes and cupcakes for any other occasion.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
Lots of weddings!! 2018 is pretty full. And I’ve a few photo shoots lined up, which are always great fun to do.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
My son, everyday. The way he takes everything in his stride and is still happy. In the cake world I’m lucky to know many exceptional artist, who are constant sources of inspiration as well as friends.
