When Charlie Met Hannah are lovely, lively documentary wedding photographers. They have a professional yet relaxed approach to their work, capturing candid and heartfelt images that tell the story of your day as it naturally unfolds.
When you’re looking back at your photos after your big day, you want to remember how it felt as well as how it looked. By capturing all those tender moments, together with a few classic shots, the vibe and energy of your day will be beautifully documented by Charlie and Hannah. Not forgetting of course all those joyful and fun moments enjoyed by your wedding party that you might not necessarily see for yourself on the day.
Charlie and Hannah can also capture your day on film whether you’re looking for a short film that really encapsulates the very best moments of your wedding, or something longer to linger over, just speak to the girls and they’ll craft the perfect film for you. Over to Charlie and Hannah now to tell us so much more about their business.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business
Hi! We are Charlie and Hannah and we are documentary photographers and film makers. We are also mums to young children (and cats! We have 4 between us), and total telly addicts. We met in 2013 when a love of all things weddings and photography, combined with our love of Grey’s Anatomy and The Walking Dead, cemented our friendship.
Our business launched in February 2017 and we offer relaxed, unobtrusive and fun wedding photography and films to all couples in love. We are based in South Wales but we love to travel and are happy to shoot weddings all over the country (or overseas!).
What motivated you to start your business?
We have both always loved photography and making mini family films – after completing our training together we briefly went our separate ways to gain experience and decide what we wanted to do.
It turned out that we both wanted to shoot weddings, we were constantly asking each other questions, offering each other support and booking each other as second shooters so it seemed natural to join forces and be able to offer something a little extra to our couples. We motivate each other and being accountable to someone other than just ourselves really inspires us to give the business our all.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
Because we both have young children we often work fairly anti social hours! We hand edit every image and every frame of film so it can be quite labour intensive and that takes up a lot of our time, combined with marketing, research, trying to figure out SEO, meeting clients and lots of planning.
On the wedding day itself we often arrive to capture the morning prep and stay until just after the first dance. Whether we are photographing, filming or both we try to remain unobtrusive and capture all the candid moments that make a wedding day unique to the couple getting married.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
Two new friends! No but seriously, we don’t want to be just two people who turn up and tell our clients what to do. We love meeting our clients beforehand to hear them talk about their wedding, we are happy to offer ideas for potential suppliers or help plan the timeline of your day, we laugh with your guests, play with the kids, cry during the speeches and try to make sure your day runs smoothly.
We also capture all of the big moments and all of the little ones in order to preserve your memories for years to come. We love how every wedding we are lucky enough to shoot is completely unique to the couple. We work really hard to ensure our films and images reflect that and are handcrafted to burst with the couple’s personality.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
When it comes to wedding photography and film we think meeting up and making sure you get on with your supplier is as important as, if not more than, liking their style.
Weddings can be long days and you need suppliers who fit in with you and your ideas for the day. We always offer a meeting, in person or via skype, to put our couples at ease.
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
No one moment in particular stands out, we have been very lucky and worked with some amazing clients and experienced some lovely moments with all of them.
Although our proudest moment was when the first couple to take a chance on us immediately after launching told us that booking us was the best decision they made.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
We are soon to be launching a brand package for creatives in the wedding industry, offering photography and social media friendly films.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
Lots of weddings, the launch of our brand package, some styled inspiration shoots and a few wedding fayres. Along with as much family time as we can fit in!
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
It’s all about our kids. Without wanting to sound corny, they inspire us to work hard at building a business that allows us to work around them and also show them that it is possible to make a living doing something that you love.
