Since it opened its doors in 2014 The Byre at Inchyra has gained a reputation as one of the very best venues in the country. Set in over 150 acres of stunning private parkland surrounding the magnificent Inchyra House, you can create the wedding of your dreams at this gorgeous venue that combines charming period features with unashamed modern luxuries.
For those not too familiar with The Byre it’s a stunningly refurbished cattle barn near Perth. But to be honest to describe it as refurbished doesn’t really do it justice. The beauty’s in the detail, from the Farrow & Ball paintwork emphasising the original 1877 character to the beautiful old cattle troughs, just waiting to be filled with your decorations creating a funky sense of luxury.
It really doesn’t take much to imagine your ceremony taking place either outdoors or in one of the atmospheric rooms within the barn complex, including the stable room where the authentic wooden create a romantic chapel atmosphere. Then let the celebrations commence, and once again you have a great choice of which rooms you use and how you decorate them. Over to Caroline at Inchyra to tell us more.
Tell us about your venue
The Byre is an exclusive wedding venue near Perth, Scotland, that we believe offers the ultimate in rustic luxury. We opened The Byre for weddings in the summer of 2014 and it has very quickly gained an enviable reputation as one of the very best wedding venues in the UK.
This is down not only to the stunning barn itself but also to its unrivalled setting on the historic Inchyra Estate. Rather than sitting in a farmyard, The Byre at Inchyra sits in sweeping parkland in the sheltered grounds of the beautiful Inchyra House.
The Byre provides a perfect blank canvas on which to paint your wedding while at the same time giving total back up through modern technology and luxury facilities. And our great team are on hand to offer help and advice right up until your wedding day.
Do you offer civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies?
Do couples & their wedding party have exclusive use of your venue?
Venue capacity – How many guests can attend the day ceremony, if applicable, wedding breakfast & the evening reception?
We can comfortably fit up to 150 during the day and up to 220 at night.
Tell us just a little about any wedding packages you offer
We don’t offer packages as the Byre is a dry hire venue.
Do you have in-house catering, or preferred suppliers or are couples free to choose their own caterers?
We have a list of preferred caterers as we think it’s really important that couples know that their caterer knows us and the venue and that we can vouch for their service and quality.
Food and drink are the only things we specific recommended suppliers for but we also have a list of recommended suppliers for everything from photography to make up artists.
Can couples supply their own alcohol for the evening? Is there a corkage fee?
Yes they can. We make a small headage charge for this.
Are couples completely free to choose their own wedding entertainment & do you have a specific sound system?
Yes. We have multiple sound systems in the Byre which couples use for speeches and playlists. Most bands bring their own PA for the stage.
Do you offer accommodation on site? If so, for how many guests?
Yes, two cottages sleeping 6 guests each and, from March 2018, a beautiful Bridle Suite (in the old Stable Yard so the spelling is correct!)
Do you have an in-house wedding co-ordinator?
Not as such but we have a very tried and tested system to make sure that every wedding at Inchyra goes according to plan and we usually have at least two site meetings with our couples where we go through all their plans and give help and advice to make things run as smoothly as possible.
How far in advance can couples or their wedding stylist, florist etc have access to the venue in order to decorate it?
From midday day the day before the wedding.
Do you have gardens or an outdoor area for wedding photographs?
What’s your best advice to couples when choosing their perfect wedding venue?
It’s a bit like buying a house, you’ll know if it’s the right one for you. We don’t think anyone can be ‘sold’ a wedding venue.
Any finally, what are your favourite moments from previous wedding you’ve been involved with?
There’s always something incredibly special about seeing any of our brides walk down the aisle, whether it’s in the Byre itself or in one of our stunning outdoor locations.
We have usually got to know them pretty well by that time and there’s a real emotion attached to it for us.
