Tell us a little about yourself and your business
I have always has a passion for hair, however when I discovered bridal hair something just clicked this was something I was born to do!
What motivated you to start your business?
My real interest for hair began at a very young age, from the days of eagerly rushing home from school to watch my mum hairdressing at home in the converted garage that dad transformed into a salon for her.
My love for all things bridal began when my brother and sister-in-law got married 3 years ago. After being heavily involved in all aspects of the wedding planning, I realised that I wasn’t ready to leave behind the buzz that surrounds weddings. I quickly found myself taking any opportunity I was given to style bridal and occasion hair. This was when I had the light bulb moment and The Bridal Hair Professionals was born.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
Due to specialising in bridal hair most of my bookings are weekends, however it’s lovely to see that the wedding season seems to be extending and weekday weddings are becoming increasingly popular.
Most of my evenings and any spare moments are filled with bridal trials, the sewing of countless hair extensions, admin, accounts, social media, emailing brides, supplier, venues and lots of research. I’m constantly keeping up to date with the ever evolving world of hair and I believe this is a very important part of my job.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
I do my upmost to provide every single bride, bridesmaid and family member with the hair of their dreams. It is so important to me that a bride’s day is everything they’ve always imagined and hair is a huge part of the overall look.
Every bride and wedding day is special in its own unique way, so from the first point of contact I ensure I get to know the bride and her vision. Trials are held at my private studio which allows every bride to feel completely relaxed and comfortable and most importantly pampered!
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
Just like choosing your life partner when you know you know! This applies to every supplier for your big day. It’s one of the most important days of your life and having the best people on board is paramount, however you have got to have a connection with these people to know you’re working towards the same vision, to make your day perfect for you!
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
The morning of your wedding day is such a personal and intimate time, where emotions often run high and you’re surrounded by your closest family and friends. You must feel comfortable with those who are sharing this time with you. This is why I always feel so privileged to be a part of a brides morning.
Every bride is special in her own unique and beautiful way. My favourite moments have to be those few seconds when the room stands still as the bride enters the room for the first time. Gown on, hair and make up complete, and everyone is in awe of the bride.
At that first glimpse of the complete look there is lots of emotion in the room, smiles, gasps and tears from the entourage. It gets me every time, feeling and seeing the emotion from family and friends and realising how important my role in her special day has been.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
My passion is bridal and occasion hair, however I am a hair dresser through and through and a workaholic, so I do manage to squeeze in a few salon days mid week for my regular clients.
It’s always a joy as I work alongside my long term work colleagues at my mums busy salon, Studio 11 hairdressing- where it all began. I believe it is still so important for me to stay up to date and relevant with colours and cuts, as trends are always changing and I feel I can advise brides on all aspects of their hair.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
There are lots of exciting things ahead for The Bridal Hair Professionals this year, it’s the beginning of our third year and it’s set to be our best yet. My ultimate aim is to continue building The Bridal Hair Professionals business and profile. My diary is filling up for 2019 and I’m now taking bookings for 2020.
I’m extremely keen to share my passion and skill for bridal hair. I plan to offer one to one and group training for both Hair Professionals and those with no experience but have an interest in hair and all things bridal.
