I am a designer and creator of unique unconventional wedding decor. My service suits artistic couples looking for something different to reflect their personal taste and interests.
I mainly specialise in table displays and feature backdrops. I make and plan all the details working with and supplying the textiles, flowers, authentic artefacts and props.
What motivated you to start your business?
Life for me is about creating, being inspired by past, present and individual uniqueness. We really are all different. My aim and motivation is to create wedding decor with personally.
We show our personalities in our homes, fashion and interests, what about our weddings? my thinking is be yourself have a wedding that truly is about you.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
I can honestly say I love my projects, they are all creative and involve making. This is mostly done in my work space, inside and out. I make handwritten table stationery and signs, sew and work with fabrics, hand carve props and construct bespoke table centre decoration.
If i’m not creating I’m gardening this is usually 2 days each week in my mum’s garden. Jackie (mum) is the wonderful lady who helps me on my wedding setup days.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
Guidance, advice and development of their ideas, their vision. All creative people have a vision, I’m the the one who turns that vision into a practical displayable look. A look which will reflect them and be of exceptional, authentic quality.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
Three points of advice that stand out:
- You want to be excited by what you see?
is the quality of the product/ service matched well to it’s price?
A supplier is right when you can laugh, smile and be yourself around them
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
It’s always the visual impact a dressed room has when bridal couple and their guests first see their dressed room. They all say Wow this is different!. And because my works isn’t copied or recreated it’s hard for guests to imagine before hand so I often gets comments like ‘we couldn’t visual gatsby and rustic woodland together but now we do, it’s amazing!’.
Although the bridal couple get to see the development of their scheme through mock setups it’s still a joy and surprise to see their room complete.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
I design and create for dinner parties and special celebrations. Normally eccentric people wanting themed decor where they and their guests can get dressed up and live the theme!
My photoshoots aren’t always wedding themed. These projects are normally with my creative award winning photographer friends, we create for inspiration, portfolios and sometimes editorials.
What have you got planned for the next 12 months?
My projects are keeping me busy up to September a mixture of weddings and photoshoots. My spare time in-between I plan to further my own photography skills moving from a beginner camera to professional.
In the autumn I have space for 2 weddings projects and will hopefully feel brave enough to start photographing inspiration setups with people!
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
Avant Garde runway fashion, designers who push boundaries, mix style and strive to be original, always exciting and inspiring.
World of Interiors magazines, they show the best authentic homes from around the world from mud huts to palaces, often busy with pattern, colour and architecture detail.
