Inspired by serene natural beauty and colour, she aims to capture not just your big day moments, but the bond between you as a couple. Emma sums this up so well “It’s not just about the one day, it’s about your journey and I’m here to capture the love & details to bring your story together.”
As an added bonus, Emma is well used to travelling, with Italy and Mexico amongst her recent photographic locations, so if you’re planning a destination wedding, look no further for your photographer!
It’s all yours now Emma to tell our lovely readers all about what you do.
Tell us a little about yourself and your business
I am a Fashion, Wedding and Commercial Photographer currently residing in South West England. I work throughout Devon, the UK and travel internationally, shooting classic, natural and creative images. As well as shooting my personal projects, I also tutor Fashion Photography Workshops.
What motivated you to start your business?
It all started from picking up photography as a subject in school. It was something I realised I enjoyed and decided to take it more seriously. Immediately I was drawn to photographing people and (without realising) was photographing narrative which is where my fashion side started and which after a few years led into the wedding side of the business.
My business started straight away at 16 but I still went through school and onto university with photography – where my business started to grow.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
Every day is different which is why I love my job. It can vary but if I’m not shooting then I’m working on admin, retouching, location scouting, planning new work, meetings and creating pitches.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
When booking a wedding with myself they can expect not only to book a photographer but also to book a friend. I truly care about all my brides and grooms and insure that I have their best interest throughout our time together. From out first meeting to the wedding and even after I am there for them to help create their perfect wedding.
I give as much advice as I can to help ease their planning and create a flowing and relaxed wedding day.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
They need to click. They need to feel that they fit well, get on with the person they are working with. Have similar interests and enjoy each other’s company. With a photographer you need to be comfortable with them as they are photographing such an intimate and special moment of your lives!
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
The whole day is just one big shoot, so I look forward to each and every moment BUT my favourite part of a wedding day to photograph is the Bride & Groom session. This is mainly because its what I specialise in and am able to create my editorial images with the couple.
I love photographing all the details of the day like the dress and décor as it’s parts of the day that gets missed and I am there to capture it.
Special moments like the first look from the dad and when the groom see’s the bride walking down the aisle – that always tugs at the heart! However I do enjoy the speeches and I have to try so hard to not laugh out loud behind by camera!
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
Yes, wedding photography is just half of my business. I incorporate my style of work into commercial, fashion and bridal editorial.
What have you got planned for 2017?
I’ve got more weddings planned for 2017 right up to NYE! Along with bridal editorials, fashion and commercial work.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
I am influenced by elegance, vintage and truth. I have a touching and classic approach to my artistic nature. And I am inspired by unique style, natural beauty and colour.
The constant change of style within fashion, décor and concept inspire and influence my work. Moving with current trends allowing for fresh and new ideas for my clients.
