Tell us a little about yourself and your business
Tempest London are purveyors of ties, bow ties and pocket squares. Our ties are about style and individuality and will change a suit into a statement. We also offer Wedding & Bespoke Services.
As part of the Tempest Wedding & Bespoke Service we work with clients to find the right accessories for their big day and we have over 1500 patterns to choose from.
We can assist clients to find bow ties, neck ties, skinny ties and pocket squares to match the occasion and their chosen theme. We can also provide multiple items where for example they would like important friends and family to wear the same accessories.
What motivated you to start your business?
The motivation to start our business came from the lack of variety of ties available and the need to find funky and bold ties that reflected the personality of the wearer.
There are many wedding hire shops that offer the standard pastel palette of colours but people are looking for more.
It was the lack of choice and general funkiness that led to Tempest London being born.
Tell us a little more about the day to day activities of your business
The day to day activities of the business are the operation of our website and our participation in wedding shows. We exhibited at the National Wedding Show in 2016, Midland Wedding Show 2017 and will be at the Asian Celebration Wedding Show in Autumn 2017.
If our readers were to order from you, what can they expect?
Tempest London are a customer focused organisation and we strive to provide high quality products with the highest levels of customer service.
How can couples judge if a company is the right fit for their wedding?
I think a couple should go with their gut ultimately. It is always good to meet face to face so you can ask questions and get a measure of the people providing the service as well as the service itself. If you get a good feeling from a supplier then that is a good start but make sure you understand any terms of business the company is providing.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions as the ‘customer is king’ (well they are at Tempest London).
What are your favourite moments from previous weddings you’ve been involved with?
At the Midland Wedding Show earlier this year we met a bride who was looking for a specific colour of tie. She had scoured the shops to no avail but a tie on our stand caught her eye. We directed her to our catalogues of over 1500 patterns and she was able to find exactly what she was after.
We supplied a number of ties on the day of the show and also processed a custom order of a single tie and pocket squares for the group. Her big day was fast approaching and we were concerned that there may not be enough time but we were able to turn around the order in good time and she was delighted with the ties and pocket squares.
It was a favourite moment because as a business we had delivered as promised in a short time frame and our bride to be was happy. If you have a happy bride to be then we cannot really ask for much more.
The bigger picture – does your business offer goods/services outside of the wedding world? Tell us more
Yes we do, we operate an online store selling bow ties, pocket squares, skinny ties and regular ties and we also offer a corporate tie service.
What have you got planned for 2017?
As a new business we are looking to increase brand awareness for Tempest London and will be exhibiting at some forthcoming wedding shows as well as expanding our range. We hope to have our products in wedding hire shops and boutique men’s stores. We also plan to set up pop up stores at locations around the UK so watch this space.
And finally, what or who inspires you and why?
We take our inspiration from men’s style from the past and present. Steve McQueen, James Dean, Roger Moore, James Bond to name a few. Their style was loud and said something about them. It made a statement and that is what Tempest London is all about.
